A friend graciously commissioned this painting of my own storybook characters: Nicholas Barkley the badger and friends, Penny the opossum and Jack the fox. I love golden lighting and took inspiration from the local creek and my own children for this painting.
Mountain Flight

This leaping yak, framed above the Nepalese hills, was drawn for a contest, and though I didn't win, I had a lot if fun working with new techniques to accomplish the first texture. An old brush, with bristles splayed, brought out the long strands of hair.
Geckos
6"x9" | watercolor and colored pencil on Arches
A commission of the commissioner's favorite pair of geckos: a gargoyle gecko and a crested gecko. They are posed on a mossy branch with orchids from their native New Caledonia.The initial sketch was done all in colored ballpoint pen and was a favorite part of the process.

"Wish You Were Here" Postcard - $15
Ink sketches, typically 2"x4", drawn on the back of a vintage postcard*.
Price includes shipping and the finished commission will be mailed via USPS for an authentic Postcard experience.
*+$5 and a week for a specific vintage postcard rather than just drawn randomly from my stash
(eg. Mammoth Caves, baseball, Halloween)
Pencil Sketch - $30
A loose pencil sketch with minimal shading.
Approximately 4"x6". Larger sizes +$1.25 per square inch.
Watercolor Sketch - $40
A loose watercolor sketch with minimal shading or colors. May have pencil or pen linework. Will not do preliminary sketches.
Approximately 4"x6". Larger sizes +$1.75 per square inch.
Ink Commission - $50
Refined ink commissions of a subject of your choosing.
Pencil sketches are done beforehand for the commissioner's approval.
4"x6" on Bristol paper. No or minimal background.
+$2.50 per square inch.
Watercolor Commission - $75
Refined watercolor commissions of a subject of your choosing.
Pencil sketches are done beforehand for the commissioner's approval.
4"x6" on hot press paper. No or minimal background.
+$3 per square inch.

All commissions begin at 4"x6" and can scale up.
Commissions smaller than 4"x6" retain the 4"x6" base price.
Each commission will have 1/4"-1/2" borders for easier framing. Deckle edges may be requested for no charge on any watercolor commission, excluding postcards.I am happy to accommodate large or non-standard sizes. Please recognize images larger than 5"x7" and those in non-standard sizes will cost more to have matted. When planning your commission, note that a non-standard size will cost considerably more to frame.Estimating Price
Determine the size of image you want and multiply Length by Width, then multiply by the price given per square inch under each description.
Final prices are typically rounded up.ex: 5x7 watercolor = 35*3 = 43.75 = $45 total

What I'll DrawPlant, animal, mineral, characters, whatever. Tasteful nudes and gore may be discussed but pornography is off the table. Animals and anthros are my strength, and I love doing more realistic natural history type illustrations; buildings and machinery are not my best but I can work with references!I'm happy to draw portraits, busts, or full body images of your character(s), just note that I sell my work by size and not portion -- if you buy a 4x6 painting and request a full-body character illustration, it's going to be itty bitty compared to a portrait in the same dimensions.Images with more than one interacting character will need some extra discussion and may cost more.What You'll GetYou will receive a high-resolution scan of your image, delivered on completion and final payment of the project. Postcard commissions receive scans of the front and back of the card.For an additional shipping fee, the original artwork will be mailed to you. Adding a mat may delay shipment of your work for 1-2 weeks. On shipment, you will receive a tracking number with your order. Postcard commissions are mailed as-is, without envelope or mat, with no additional fee or tracking number (just as a postcard ought to be mailed).Once your artwork is in the mail, I am not responsible for delayed, lost, or damaged products.UseThe scan and original artwork are intended for personal use only and may not be used for any commercial purposes.The digital copy may be used for icons, headers, &c, with credit.Do not remove my signature from the digital copy.The original artwork may not be reproduced.I retain the right to display your image in my portfolio and on social media.PaymentWith exception of commissions costing $250 or more, the cost must be paid in full before I begin work on the commission.
